Reaching Coorg by Rail from Coimbatore:

At Coorg you will not find any railway station and thus one needs to travel to the nearest by railway junctions such as Mysore and Mangalore. There is direct train between Mangalore junction and Coimbatore. One can also travel to Palakkad which is also well connected to Coimbatore via rail. From these places, one can take a bus or hire a taxi to Coorg.

You can go via train Madgaon Express which runs from Coimbatore Junction to Mangalore Junction. From Mangalore, you are required to go by road.

There is another rail routes which you can take. Tourists can also go train from Coimbatore to Palakkad which will take approximately 1 hour. And Palakkad, you can go via bus or taxi to Coorg that will again take close to 5 hours. This route is not usually recommended.

Reaching Coorg by Road from Coimbatore:

From Coimbatore, there are many direct buses which go to Coorg. One can choose from luxury buses and state buses, based on their budget and convenience. And if you like travel on your own, we can arrange a cab for you or you can hire a taxi or travel by your own car. The distance between the two places is approximately 320 km. It will take close to 6 hours and 40 minutes to reach Coorg from Coimbatore.

If you are travelling via NH 209 and Mysore-Madikeri Road which is almost 322 km, it will take you slightly more than 6 hours. If you travel via NH 67, the time to reach Coorg will be around 6 hours 40 minutes. Same amount of time is required to travel via SH 164 which is approximately 347 km.

For travelling to Coorg from Coimbatore, this is the common route which is take covering these places:

Coimbatore - Ganeshapuram - Punjaipuliampatti - Sathyamangalam - Hasanur - Chikkahole - Chamrajnagar - Nanjangud - Mysore - Coorg.
